Research Highlights Real World Use of Edge Data Centers for the Delivery of Business Services
Earlier this week, RF Code released Edge Data Center Research that they commissioned. The research, conducted by a third party, set out to explore the adoption of Edge and how it will help drive business operations and customer experience. RF Code highlights two sectors that are accelerating the adoption of Edge: Financial Services and Healthcare. Additionally, Data Specialties finds these same issues and concerns with its higher education clients.
The findings are consistent with what Data Specialties has been saying about Edge and Modular Data Center deployments for the past year, and we believe that there will be a continuation and expansion of this trend as data needs to get to people more quickly in more locations. According to the report, 47% of organizations surveyed have up to 50 Edge locations with 30% exceeding 250 Edge locations.
Additionally, when it comes to managing critical Edge facilities, more than half of the companies surveyed have dedicated IT support staff, and 70% want to use a cloud-based management platform.
Data Specialties will continue to advise and educate the Data Center community on the benefits of Edge and Modular Data Center deployments, as well as highlight case studies of successful deployments such as the project for a Southwestern University.
