Data Specialties Inc. Two-Booth Approach at HIMSS 2013 a Success!

Data Specialties, Inc. was among the list of 1,200 exhibitors at last week’s HIMSS 2013 (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.  But they were among only a handful of professional design/build contractors supporting the over 34,000 attendees that made their way to the conference.

This year’s theme was “Health IT: Right Time. Right Place. It’s On.”  The one millions square foot show floor was filled with new tech from the likes of Agfa Healthcare, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Palantir, all promising to power next-gen health care.

Within the data center services sphere, companies such as Peak Uptime, Razor Insights, Charter Business, and SSI found their place in the exhibit hall.

DSI took a two-booth approach, staffing locations at either end of the exhibit hall to maximize the company’s exposure.  “We felt like this would provide us the best opportunity to reach out to the highest number of attendees about data center consulting and design/build services” said Steve Borley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for DSI.

According to a HIMSS survey, roughly half of healthcare industry CIOs said their IT budgets would definitely increase this year, and another 29 percent said expenditures would likely go up.

The number of healthcare professions seeking DSI’s data center services supported these percentages.  Overwhelmingly, the majority of end users saw a correlation between IT spending and a net impact on their data centers.  According to Jeff McCartney, Western Region Business Development Manager for DSI, booth activity “…was clearly driven by the need for additional capacity in terms of space, power or cooling to support new IT initiatives.”

Timing within the healthcare was another takeaway.  “There are still many healthcare organizations out there,” McCartney said, “that have delayed upgrades as long as they can.  The flood of IT projects is pushing the tipping point.  In healthcare, this is the year of the data center.”

Data Specialties Phoenix Office Leads Data Center Design-Build Firm’s Presence at Healthcare Trade Shows in the Western Region

Data Specialties Inc. recently exhibited at the Healthcare Design Convention in Phoenix, Arizona.  DSI’s National Business Development Manager, Jeff McCartney, led the sales and marketing team as point of contact for the data center design-build firm that has an office in Phoenix, as well as St. Louis, and throughout California.

With the wave of big data and increased popularity and regulations on electronic medical records (EMR), hospitals and healthcare facilities are a growing sector for data center developers.  DSI’s Arizona office is positioned as a hub for the western region data center activity that has seen a boom over the last year within the healthcare information technology (HIT) sector.  As a result, HIT is an additional focus that DSI’s Arizona office will target. With the plethora of medical facilities in the region and the need for quality data center solutions, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Steve Borley,  feels positive about initiating an aggressive marketing presence in the HIT market for not only DSI’s Arizona office, but all DSI locations nationwide.

Along with DSI’s marketing team, McCartney plays an instrumental role in identifying DSI projects and clients within the Arizona and surrounding regions.  In the past year DSI’s Arizona office has finalized data center projects with corporations such as AAA, Cox Communications, Desert Diamond Casino, Dunn Edwards Paints, and Verizon.  The Phoenix location remains strong in its contributions of projected big business for the DSI pipeline in the year ahead.  To reach Jeff McCartney, please call (480) 921-8134 ext. 231.

Data Specialties Inc. (DSI) partners with AFCOM and 24/7 Exchange at a Kansas City Sustainable Data Center Golf Event

Always eager to get involved, Data Specialties Inc.’s St. Louis office participated in AFCOM/24X7 Exchange’s “Green Grid” 4th quarter meeting October 12, 2012 on the Sprint Campus in Kansas City, MO.   Launched in 2011, The Green Grid model integrates every aspect of the data center from power and cooling to more efficient computers, storage and networks.  Over 120 industry professionals met up to network, golf, and update their knowledge in the Green Grid methodology, which was developed to serve as a comprehensive model, providing clear goals and direction that map out what can and should be done over time to improve overall efficiency and sustainability throughout the data center industry. In addition to fun and friendly networking, rounds of golf, food and drinks, attendees were exposed to subject matter that focused on strategies, models and best practices for building and managing sustainable data centers for economic, social, and environmental benefits.

The DSI St. Louis team made great headway as a corporate “Hole Sponsor” and look forward to participating in more industry networking events that foster both networking and having a good time!

DSI at Data Center World Fall 2012 – Nashville, TN

The Sales & Marketing team at Data Specialties Inc. just returned from exhibiting at this week’s AFCOM Data Center World Fall 2012 Conference & Expo in Nashville, TN. While it was a smaller show than the same produced in the Spring, DCW brought out a fair share of data center industry heavy weights, as well as the little guys (up and coming SME’s), and even a handful of vendors and suppliers new to our close knit data center market. With its slightly extended expo hours and a more “down home” location in Tennessee, Data Center World turned out to be a year ending show with pretty good ROI potential.

DSI’s sales team, which included our newest team members from our recently opened St. Louis office, were consistently busy fielding questions and inquiries on our data center design-build services. With 2012 coming to a close, participation in industry trade shows will be tapering off until the cycle restarts in the new year, and we welcome the opportunity to get back out there and meet many more future and existing clients, vendors, and partners.
